A Little about Myself

I am Gabrielle Jones, and I graduated from the best HBCU on the planet, which is Grambling State University. I received Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and later on a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Reading. I am so excited to be working with your child this year and helping him/her to achieve his/her highest potential.

Parent/Teacher Relationship

It is my belief that a great parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will try my best to communicate with you as much as possible. Students will have a weekly newsletter in which I will put any notes or reminders as well as all of your student’s work. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You can send me a note or call me at the school at 318-325-7979 ext. 4783. (Before 7:30am or after 2:00pm)

School Attendance

Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is very important to his/her success. Most kindergarten learning activities are in groups and involve interaction with classmates. Therefore it is impossible to make up work at home. Please send your child to school every day unless he/she has an illness or emergency. If he/she will be absent please inform me.

Changes in Transportation

If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides the bus or you wish for your child to ride a different bus than usual, you must send a written note. Please do not rely on your child to tell me this information because he or she may give me the message incorrectly. If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by the usual mode of transportation.

On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school.  Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following information written on it:

  • 1 Your child’s first and last name.
  • 2 The amount of money.
  • 3 The purpose for the money (book money, lunch money, picture money, etc.).
  • 4 My name.

Birthdays are special occasions for young children.  If your child wishes, he/she may bring treats for the class on his/her birthday.  Pre-packaged treats are best and easiest.  Please send a note a day or two in advance, so I can give you an exact number of children in the class and set a side some class time for the party.

Throughout the year you will be asked to provide snacks for the class.  I ask that when you bring snack, you have it portioned out.  This makes it easy for the children to assist in snack time help.  Some items for snack may include but are not limited to: crackers, popcorn, pretzels, gummy fruit, fruit, cheese & crackers, and cookies.  If your snack requires something other than a napkin, please send it along with the snack (cups for drink, plates, bowls, forks, etc.)  We understand, If you are unable to provide snack.

Thank You

In closing, I would just like to say that I am looking forward to a great year of working with your child!  I would also like to suggest that you save this letter for future reference.  This letter can also be viewed online if you have Internet access.  The address is:     Thank you in advance for your concern and support throughout the year!!!
